Le's Geckos is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to all visitors, including those with disabilities. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Accessibility Features

Our website includes the following accessibility features:

• Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements — including navigation menus, buttons, links, and form fields — are accessible via keyboard. Focus states are clearly visible to help keyboard users track their position on the page.
• Alternative Text: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked as such to avoid cluttering screen reader output.
• Color Contrast: We maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, in line with WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
• Reduced Motion: Animations and transitions on this site respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query. If you have enabled reduced motion in your operating system settings, animations will be minimized or disabled.

Known Limitations

While we work diligently to maintain accessibility, we acknowledge the following areas where improvements are ongoing:

• Third-Party Shopping Cart: Our Snipcart shopping cart is a third-party component. While Snipcart provides reasonable keyboard and screen reader support, some interactions may not be fully optimized. We are monitoring Snipcart accessibility updates and applying CSS customizations where possible.
• Older Content: Some older product images may have generic alt text. We are auditing and improving these descriptions on an ongoing basis.
• Video/Media: If video content is added to the site in the future, we will provide captions and transcripts as required.

Technical Approach

This website is built with Next.js and React, using semantic HTML and Tailwind CSS for styling. We test accessibility using a combination of automated tools (axe DevTools, Lighthouse) and manual testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers (VoiceOver on macOS/iOS, NVDA on Windows). We aim to support current versions of major browsers and assistive technologies.
